Scarce work on the sociology of the 19th Century Indian/ Sri Lankan village. Phear was a judge and also 13th Chief Justice of Ceylon (Sri Lanka) 1st UK edition. Red cloth with gilt title and black ruling. A few pages uncut (glossary at rear) and a few pages roughly cut. Black endpapers cracking at hinge which is solid. Covers lightly marked – a Good + copy of a very scarce item.
