First edition – lacks folding map but retains the plates with tissue guards. Bookplate of John Stewart Templeton (carpet maker) of Knockderry Castle to the front pastedown of volume 1 and the bookplate of Captain Thomas B. Scott to the fep of volume 2. Pasted to front pastedown of Volume 1 is an advertising sheet for other works by the publisher and there are 2pp of adverts to the rear of Volume 2. Generally in Good+ condition in the original cloth.
