Description

Scarce hardback first edition of this important work studying the origins of Scottish melodies and songs. John Glen, a partner in a music publishing firm in the Nineteenth Century was responsible for collecting many of the early published works and available manuscripts and preserving them (his bequest is now the core of the Glen Collection at the National Library of Scotland). This copy preserves the original (loose glassine protective sheet for the frontispiece of William McGibbon). Grey covers with illustration of Pan to the covers and gilt titles, covers slightly marked but a VG copy.
