Description

Translated from the French with an introductory preface by the here anonymous translator (P. Abercrombie). Scarce, this being the only translation for many years and the only edition. Few copies are privately available. First edition thus. 8vo, pp.lxxi, 128. With the bookplate of Robert Maxtone Graham Period Calf binding shows light wear. Tight internally. Pages trimmed affecting the statement at the foot of the title page (‘Printed in the Year 1707’) probably when this binding was made. Full leather with raised bands and gilt titles. Date of 1704, erroneously, on the spine probably arising from the trimmed lettering at the foot of the title page – VII being halved and read as IIII
