Griffith’s private journals and travels in India and neighbouring countries . Griffith was a British doctor, naturalist, and botanist, and accompanied many of the British military expeditions in Asia. He died before publication of his travel notes and botanical studies and these were arranged and published posthumously in two volumes by John McLelland. This, the first volume was an account of his travels and the second his botanical notes. This volume 1 covers his Asian travels. First edition. xxxii, 529. Frontispiece of the author and 18 plates. The work as been rebound professionally in full blue leather with raised bands and gilt titles. Intenrally there are some minor repairs to pages (presumably by the binder) and the gatherings hre unevenly faded (presumably two paper qualitieswere used as some of the gatherings are more heavily toned and brittle. The illustrations are bright and on better paper. A VG copy of a very scarce work in the first edition.
