Description

The bindings on these volumes do not seem to have been strong or well made and most copies are found damaged and worn. Four volumes, complete.

Volume 1 is the second edition, undated but around 1856/7. This volume is in fair only condition, with all plates and maps replaced by modern copies, and wear to the spine with loss of the title. 344pp.

The other volumes are first editions and generally in Fair to Good condition in the original green cloth, worn and with handling marks throughout. Frontispieces to volumes 2 and 3 and Folding map (repaired) to volume 4, which has a list of plants to rear and addendum to all volumes. Volume 3 has 4 block engravings. Volume 4 also has maps preceding page 1 and at pp136/7 and at pp232/3. There are also 2 further plates in the text to volume 4.
