Landmark study which influenced Muslim thinking in the run up to partition. Mohammad Iqbal’s work were first published in lahore in 1930 but this first English publication followed on from the Found Table Conferences which Iqbal participated in on the Muslim delegation. The ‘Iqbal Literary Association’ hosted at least one of the informal meetings. This copy has an ‘Iqbal Literary Association’ presentation label to the front pastedown. Name and date to the fep of Dawaood Cowan, a british Muslim connected to the Woking Mosque who wrote articles for the Islamic review and lectured in Arabic at the University of London, presumably the recipient of this presentation copy. Endpapers a little blotchy otherwise a VG copy of this scarce work, protected in a removable sleeve.
