Description

Re-backed with original cloth spine on green boards. Title label worn. Scarce first edition of this unusual novel of the decline of the hold of religion on English towns. Written by White under the Rutherford Pseudonym – Rutherford having supposedly died White took the second pseudonym of Shapcott to edit his posthumous work. George Orwell described Mark Rutherford’s Deliverance as ‘one of the best novels written in English’. A Good copy. Scarce.
