Purchased from the collection of Jane Balfour Scottish environmentalist and naturalist who was the daughter of a Colonel James Syme Drew of the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders (to whom this was proabably gifted – he was Adjutant to the 5th Battalion in which Ellice served and died in WW1). The work consists of notes and letters received by his father after Ellice’s death, and then his diaries which cover the period up until a few days before his death. A poignant WW1 memoir.
