This is the copy of Louisa Duff-Dunbar of Ackergill Tower in Wick ( pioneer woman archaeologist and wife of the Baronet of Sutherland) with her signature to the fep and to the title page. Laid in is a letter from her son George Dunbar-Duff, of the Foreign office and author of the History of India, a standard work in its day. The letter refers to the he help he has had from colleagues in writing the work and thanks his mother for sending him a duck!. Laid in are a number of clippings from newpapers of the 1930s incuding a Times Literary Supplement review praising the work. Small ink stain to the bottom edge of the text block (not affecting the pages) otherwise a VG+ copy .
